About Cara Lyon Physical Therapy
My Education
I completed the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Texas Woman's University in Houston, TX 2017. Afterward, I completed advanced training with intensive mentorship as part of an orthopedic residency with Select Medical. I have worked with clients with orthopedic issues for more than 8 years. Having having my daughter in 2020, I began mentorship in pelvic health physical therapy. Since then, I have complted 100 hours of one-on-one mentorship and 120 hours of continuing education focused on pelvic health. I have worked in outpatient orthopedic, specialty pelvic health, and skilled nursing facilities.
I have learned more from the patients I have worked with than from any of the education I have completed. I believe each person I work with is a unique combination of their life experiences, beliefs, and typical activities. Because of this, I enjoy adapting the best evidence to the specific conditions of each person I work with.
Hobbies
My family enjoys being active outside, hiking, cross country skiing, running, and rock climbing. I believe finding a way to engage in physical activity throughout life's changes is an important way to maintain health, quality of life, and mental health.
One of the things I love most about pelvic health physical therapy is helping people return to or find new ways to be active and celeberate what their body can do.
I am the proud mother of two kids, an 18-month-old boy and a 5 year old girl. I am also married to a professor of physical therapy.
